Laurence Maroney (1, RB)
Coach Belichick was a little upset with Corey Dillon’s play last season, and now you see the result. Maroney is a tough back that makes plays. He has as upright running style that reminds me a little of Eric DIckerson. Maroney is fast and strong (5′11″, 215, 4.45 40) and can go the distance at any time. He also has a nose for the end-zone and doesn’t put the ball on the carpet.
In 37 games at Minnesota (16 starts), Maroney has rushed for 3,933 yards (6.0 ypc) and has 32 TD runs. Maroney hasn’t been a great receiver in his career, as he has only caught 21 passes for 197 yards and one TD. But Coach Belichick doesn’t need Maroney to catch passes….that’s what Kevin Faulk is for.
Another solid, perhaps great pick by New England.
