Patriots in good hands with the NFL’s best quarterback
Tom Brady is quite simply….the best quarterback in the league. Sure, he doesn’t have the best arm in the league, but he has three Super Bowl rings and is determined to get more. Last season Brady threw for 4,110 yards which is not the Patriots style but someone had to pick up the running game which was not up to snuff. Brady has put up some outstanding numbers in his career spanning 80 games (78 starts) he has completed 61.9% of his passes for 18,035 yards with 123 TD passes and only 66 interceptions for a QB rating of 88.5. Brady reminds me so much of Joe Montana in style, but Brady is even a better big game QB than Montana which is something I never thought I would be able to say about anyone.
If something were to happen to Brady and the Pats had to go to their back-up QB it would be very interesting to see what Matt Cassel could do. Cassel was Matt Leinhart’s caddy in college and never got to play much. Cassel had an outstanding pre-season last year and looked good in two relief outings last season completing 54.2% of his passes for 183 yards with 2 TD and an interception for an 89.4 QB rating. Coach Belichick is showing tremendous faith in Cassel by not signing a veteran to back up Brady.
