Coach Belichick hates pre-season football.  He never lets his regulars break a sweat in the game, as he likes to keep his vets healthy for when the games count.  What that does is it gets alot of the Pats young players game experience that could help them out later.  QB Matt Cassel (Mr. August) didn’t disappoint on Friday.  Cassel completed 13 of 26 passes for 229 yards and a TD.  He also rushed 6 times for 32 yards.

Rookie running back Laurence Maroney looked like a tank running through the Falcons defense.  He rushed 9 times for 66 yards.

Undrafted rookie running back Patrick Cobbs was all over the field.  He rushed the ball five times for 25 yards and caught 3 passes for 80 yards and a TD.

Rookie tight-end Garrett Mills looked good catching 5 passes for 75 yards.
