Corey Dillon looking to rebound
Corey Dillon started to show the wear and tear of being a power runner for so long. Dillon rushed for the second-least yards in his career (733) last season and only averaged a career low 3.5 yards per carry. Dillon is currently the NFL’s #17 all-time leading rusher with 10,429 career rushing yards. Dillon is looking to boost that yards per carry back up to his career norm (4.3), but he did score 12 of his career 69 rushing TDs last season. Dillon has caught 229 passes in his career for 1,766 yards and 7 TDs. Receiving isn’t his game, at least not with Kevin Faulk around. Dillon has to watch his back this year as the Patriots used their #1 pick on running back Laurence Maroney (who is profiled in the Draft Report).
Kevin Faulk is the third-down back. If Faulk’s hands get on a pass, he’s gonna catch it. Faulk has quietly put together a very nice career and was a key contibutor to all the Super Bowl winning teams in New England. Faulk has played in 91 games during his career (23 starts) and has rushed for 2,275 yards (3.7 ypc) and 10 TDs. He also has caught 233 passes for 2,079 yards and 8 TDs.
The Patriots are set at running back for now and the future with Maroney aboard.
