Patriots hold off Jets 24-17
The Patriots had a 17-0 lead and the Jets almost came all the way back. Tom Brady completed 15 of 29 passes (51.7%) for 220 yards with a TD and a INT. RB Corey Dillon ran the ball 20 times for 80 yards (4.0 ypc) and a TD. Rookie RB Laurence Maroney carried the ball 16 times for 65 yards (4.1 ypc) and a TD. WR Troy Brown caught 4 passes for 51 yards (12.8 avg) and rookie WR Chad Jackson caught 2 passes for 42 yards (21.0 avg) and a TD.
The Patriots defense stuffed the Jets running game holding them to 51 yards rushing and only 2.1 yards per carry. The Jets were throwing all over the field against the Pats connecting on 59.5% of their passes for 286 net yards thru the air. DE Ty Warren had another huge game collecting 11 tackles. Tedy Bruschi had 6 tackles and a pick-off to seal the victory for the Patriots.
It hasn’t been pretty, but the Patriots are 2-0.
