He has recently been revealed that rookie WR Chad Jackson tore his ACL against the Colts.  Their is no timetable for his return to the Patriots.  Look for the Patriots to look for WRs in free agency and in the draft.  Jackson had a hard time learning the offense of the Patriots as he only caught 13 passes for 152 yards (11.7 avg) with 3 TD catches as a rookie.

The Patriots franchise Asante Samuel

The Patriots franchised cornerback Asante Samuel and that was a smart move because he would have gotten real big money if he hit free agency.  It would be smart of the Patriots to sign him to a long term contract and he seems to be willing to listen as he likes playing for the Patriots.  Last season, Samuel played in 15 games and he had 64 tackles, 10 interceptions (120 return yards), 14 passed defensed and he also forced a fumble.  He was the best corner in the NFL and he has room to get even better and that’s a very scary thought for opposing quarterbacks around the league.

With the Patriots losing both starting WRs this season, Tom Brady turned his attention the the TEs and he got good results out of them.  They caught 81 passes for 1,037 yards and 6 TD catches as a unit….which is fantastic.

Ben Watson led the way for the Patriots TEs.  He played in 13 games (all starts) and he caught 49 passes for 643 yards (13.1 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  For his career, Watson has played in 29 games (23 starts) and he has caught 80 passes for 1,100 yards (13.8 avg) with 7 TD catches.

Daniel Graham played in 12 games (11 starts) and he caught 21 passes for 235 yards (11.2 avg) with 2 TD catches.  For his career, Graham has played in 63 games (49 starts) and he has caught 120 passes for 1,393 yards (11.6 avg) with 17 TD catches.

Rookie David Thomas also did a decent job as a rookie.  He played in 15 games (3 starts) and he caught 11 passes for 159 yards (14.5 avg) with 1 TD catch.
