The Patriots have signed linebacker Victor Hobson.  Hobson played in 16 games (14 starts) for the Jets last season and he made 62 tackles, had 2 sacks and defensed 4 passes.  Hobson has now played in 76 games (57 starts) in his NFL career and he has made 343 tackles, has 11 sacks, defensed 8 passes, has 3 interceptions and he has forced a fumble.  This was a solid move for the Patriots as they needed to replenish the linebacking corps a little bit with age creeping in.

The Patriots have signed CB Fernando Bryant to a 1-year contract.  Bryant played in 16 games for the Lions last season and he made 69 tackles, defensed 13 passes, forced 1 fumble and intercepted 2 passes.  Bryant has now played in 110 games in his NFL career and he has made 471 tackles, defensed 79 passes, forced 2 fumbles and intercepted 7 passes.  Bryant is a solid player but he is certainly not in Asante Samuel’s league.
