The over/under for wins in 2008 for the New England Patriots is 12.5

I have a hunch that the Patriots are going to have some issues this season with age and durability.  Tom Brady has been banged up for quite a while now and the defense is getting old in places.  Plus, the secondary could be a huge weakness for the Patriots this season.  Take the under and remember that I told you so.  But, they will still have a good football team in 2008.

The New England Patriots waive WR Chad Jackson

The Patriots have waived WR Chad Jackson.  Jackson played in all 4 preseason games for the Patriots this season and he caught 7 passes for 66 yards (9.4 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  But, Jackson was a huge bust when the games counted for the Patriots and that’s the reason they got rid of him.  Jackson played in 14 games in his career for the Patriots (2 years) and he caught 13 passes for 152 yards (11.7 avg) with 3 TD grabs.  He also carried the football 4 times for 22 yards (5.5 ypc).  The Patriots should have known better than to take a WR from Florida in the NFL Draft as a lot of them are vastly overrated.

The New England Patriots will be without Kevin Faulk for 1 week

The Patriots will be without veteran running back Kevin Faulk who has been suspended for a game by the NFL due to a marijuana charge.  The Patriots shouldn’t miss Faulk against the Chiefs in the home opener as LaMont Jordan will probably get his playing time.

The New England Patriots waive center Mike Flynn

The Patriots took a quick look at center Mike Flynn and they didn’t like what they saw.  That’s the reason for his quick release as Flynn is looking like he is done in the NFL.

The New England Patriots lose a couple offensive linemen

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Pats News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Monday 1 September 2008 at 1:09 am

The Patriots will be without OT Ryan O’Callaghan for the entire 2008 season after he was placed on the Injured Reserve List with a serious shoulder injury.  Starting right guard Stephen Neal will miss at least the first six weeks of the season after he was placed on the PUP List.  Neal has shoulder and knee issues that could hamper him all season long and that will hurt the Patriots’ offense.  Now you know why the Patriots have been collecting offensive linemen during training camp.
