The New England Patriots release Kendall Simmons

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Pats News, General by admin on Saturday 7 November 2009 at 2:44 pm

The Patriots have released offensive guard Kendall Simmons.  Simmons only played in 1 game (0 starts) for the Patriots this season.  With Simmons being 30 years old he didn’t figure to have much of a future with the Patriots so it was smart to let him go.

Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, This Week's Matchup Report, General by admin on Friday 6 November 2009 at 2:40 pm

This is a big game for both of these teams in the AFC East.  The Dolphins need this game to get back into the division race as they are 3-4 on the year while the Patriots sit atop the division with a 5-2 record.  The Fins will keep the ball on the ground in this game with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams against a Patriots’ D that is allowing 109.4 yards rushing per game and 4.5 yards per carry.  They will likely use a lot of the Wildcat Formation against the Patriots on Sunday.  The Fins will likely keep passing to the play action variety as Chad Henne has been so-so since taking over as the starting QB.

The Patriots will likely try to jump on the Fins with the passing game.  If Tom Brady has time to throw the ball (which is likely) then he will attack the corners of the Dolphins who are both rookies with Randy Moss, Wes Welker and rookie Brandon Tate.  Ben Watson might also be a factor for the Patriots in this game as he has a huge size advantage over the guys that will be covering him.  Laurence Maroney will probably carry the load in the running game against the Fins but expect the Patriots to concentrate on using their Air Raid on Sunday.

Stephen Gostkowski is off to a good start for the New England Patriots

Blogged under Steppin Up, Bloglockers, Front Page, General by admin on Friday 6 November 2009 at 2:39 pm

Stephen Gostkowski is off to a good start to the season for the New England Patriots.  He has made 13 of 16 field goals this season and he has made all 21 of his extra point attempts.  The Patriots really like Gostkowski who has been solid this season and he has a big leg trying a lot of field goals that many kickers wouldn’t even attempt.

Sammy Morris is still going to be out a little while longer for the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots will be without Sammy Morris for a couple of more weeks as he recovers from his torn MCL.  Morris has played in 6 games this season for the Patriots and he has carried the ball 30 times for 109 yards (3.6 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 12 passes for 137 yards (11.4 avg) so far this season.  The Patriots can’t wait to get Morris back as Coach Belichick loves having depth at running back.

The New England Patriots lose Jarvis Green

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Pats News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Wednesday 4 November 2009 at 2:26 pm

The Patriots have lost defensive end Jarvis Green until at least early December after he underwent surgery on his knee last week.  Green has played in 7 games (all starts) for the Patriots so far this season and he has 18 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  The Patriots will likely use Mike Wright at DE while Green is out and he should do a decent job for them.
