CB Kyle Arrington is stepping up for the New England Patriots

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 30 November 2011 at 9:59 pm

25-year old cornerback Kyle Arrington has really been solid this year as he is racking up the interceptions.  He has played in 11 games so far this year for the Patriots and he has 60 tackles, a league leading 7 interceptions, 12 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  Arrington has now played in 35 games in his first three years with the Patriots and he has 149 tackles, 8 interceptions (one returned for a TD), 17 passes defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  The Patriots need Arrington to keep up the good work because opposing teams are going to continue to challenge their secondary.

The New England Patriots sign CB Nate Jones

Blogged under Big Pats News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Wednesday 30 November 2011 at 9:56 pm

The Patriots have signed 29-year old CB Nate Jones.  Jones played in 2 games for the Dolphins earlier this year and he had 1 tackle.  He has now played in 101 games in his first 8 years in the NFL and he has 213 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 6 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 16 passes defensed and 3 interceptions.  This is going to wind up being a good move for the Patriots who need all the help they can get in the secondary as they are giving up 307.5 yards passing per game this year.

The New England Patriots waive CB Phillip Adams

The Patriots have waived 23-year old cornerback Phillip Adams.  Adams played in 6 games for the Patriots last year and he had 8 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception.  He has now played in 21 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 21 tackles, 1 interception and 2 passes defensed.  This is not a big loss for the Patriots.

New England Patriots 38, Philadelphia Eagles 20

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 28 November 2011 at 3:39 am

The Patriots jumped all over the Eagles today and they never looked back.  Tom Brady was on his game as he completed 24 of 34 passes for 361 yards with 3 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 5 times for 28 yards (5.6 ypc) today.  BenJarvus Green-Ellis led the way on the ground for the Patriots today with 14 carries for 44 yards (3.1 ypc) with 2 TD runs in this game.  WRs Deion Branch (6 rec, 125 yards) and Wes Welker (8 rec, 115 yards, 2 TD grabs) led the way for the Patriots in the passing game today.  TEs Aaron Hernandez (6 rec, 62 yards) and Rob Gronkowski (4 rec, 59 yards, TD) also pitched in for the Patriots today.  The Patriots finished up with 104 yards rushing on 36 carries (2.9 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 34 passes (70.6%) for 353 yards as they had possession of the ball for 32:43.

Forget all of the yards the Eagles got, a lot of them were in garbage time today.  CB Kyle Arrington led the way for the Patriots today with 10 tackles and 2 passes defensed.  CB Antwaun Molden (4 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception) and LB Rob Ninkovich (3 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack and 1 QB hit) also had solid games for the Patriots today.  The Eagles finished up with 73 yards rushing on 17 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 26 of 48 passes (54.2%) for 393 yards in this game.  The Patriots are now 8-3 on the season.

New England Patriots (7-3) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (4-6)

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Saturday 26 November 2011 at 1:04 pm

The New England Patriots look all the way back as they have won their last two games by a combined score of 71-19!  The Eagles broke a 2-game losing streak last weekend with a 17-10 win over the Giants.  Here is a look at the matchups in this game:

When the Patriots have the ball:  The Patriots are without a doubt going to come out of the locker room throwing the football.  They will look to keep the passing game short to negate the impressive pass rush of the Eagles.  That means that Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez are going to be heavily involved in the passing attack today.  But, the Patriots will also run the ball with BenJarvus Green-Ellis against an Eagles’ D that is giving up 110.9 yards rushing per game and 4.5 yards per carry.

When the Eagles have the ball:  The Eagles are going to try to run the ball more than usual against the Patriots, with the idea of controlling the ball and keeping the Patriots’ offense on the sideline.  The Patriots need to slow down Lesean McCoy (1,019 yards rushing) and Vince Young in the running game, or it could be a long day for the D.  The Patriots will need to also get a good pass rush on QB Vince Young, while at the same time containing him in the pocket.  Vince Young does throw the ball to the other team quite a bit as he threw three pickoffs last weekend, so  the Patriots’ secondary better be ready to catch the ball and make the Eagles pay for it.

PREDICTION:  PATRIOTS 27, EAGLES 23

The New England Patriots lose Jeff Tarpinian for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 25 November 2011 at 4:44 am

The Patriots have lost 24-year old rookie LB Jeff Tarpinian for the rest of the year due to a head injury.  Tarpinian played in 7 games for the Patriots this year and he had 7 tackles.  This is going to be a bigger loss to the special teams than the defense for the Patriots.  Truth be told though, the Patriots can afford to lose anymore players on defense.

Tom Brady is showing no signs of slowing down for the New England Patriots

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 23 November 2011 at 9:48 pm

34-year old QB Tom Brady is showing no signs of slowing down.  He has played in 10 games for the Patriots so far this year and he has completed 253 of 387 passes (65.4%) for 3,266 yards with 25 TD passes and 10 INTs (102.5 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 16 times for 47 yards (2.9 ypc) so far this year.  The Patriots are averaging 29.3 points and 315.7 yards passing per game, as they have had to outscore teams to cover for the poor play of the defense.  With that in mind, Brady is the perfect QB for the team.

New England Patriots 34, Kansas City Chiefs 3

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Tuesday 22 November 2011 at 5:39 am

The New England Patriots had an easy time tonight with the Chiefs.  Tom Brady was solid in completing 15 of 27 passes for 234 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 10 yards (5.0 ypc) last night.  BenJarvus Green-Ellis was tough with 20 carries for 81 yards (4.1 ypc) and 1 catch for 25 yards.  Rookie RB Shane Vereen got in during mop-up time and he carried the ball 8 times for 39 yards (4.9 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Danny Woodhead pitched in with 5 carries for 27 yards (5.4 ypc) and 2 catches for 28 yards (14.0 avg).  TEs Rob Gronkowski (4 rec, 96 yards, 2 TD grabs) and Aaron Hernandez (4 rec, 44 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Patriots in this game.  The Patriots finished up with 157 yards rushing on 35 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 27 passes (55.6%) for 223 yards as they had possession of the ball for 28:30.  Julian Edelman pitched in with a 72-yard punt return for a TD for the Patriots last night.

The defense was pretty darn good for the Patriots last night.  LB Jared Mayo led the way for the Patriots last night with 11 tackles and 1 QB hit.  CB Antwaun Molden (7 tackles and 1 pass defensed), DE Andre Carter (7 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1/2 a sack, 1 pass defensed and 3 QB hits) and CB Kyle Arrington (5 tackles, 2 passes defensed and 2 interceptions that he returned for a combined 44 yards) also had big games for the Patriots.  CB Phillip Adams also pitched in with an interception.  The Chiefs finished up with 119 yards rushing on 26 carries (4.6 ypc) and they also completed 25 of 38 passes (65.8%) for 215 yards.  The Patriots are now 7-3 on the year.

New England Patriots (6-3) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (4-5)

The Patriots thumped the Jets 37-16 in New Jersey last week to get back on the right path.  The Chiefs have lost two games in a row by a combined score of 48-13!  Here is a look at the matchups in this game:

When the Patriots have the ball:  The Patriots are likely going to come out throwing the ball to get the lead and then grind it out on the ground late.  Tom Brady is likely going to have a huge game as the Chiefs only have 9 sacks this year.  He should have plenty of time to survey the field before he decides to throw the ball.  Wes Welker, Deion Branch, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski are going to give the Chiefs’ secondary fits all night long.  BenJarvus Green-Ellis will likely be getting most of his carries from the 3rd quarter on in this game.

When the Chiefs have the ball:  The Patriots are likely going to go all out to stop the Chiefs’ running game and force Tyler Palko to beat them with his left arm.  Palko has some good WRs to work with in Dwayne Bowe, Steve Breaston and Jonathan Baldwin….so they are going to have to get a good pass rush on him.  I have a feeling that RB Dexter McCluster is going to be the secret weapon in this game as he has the moves and speed to make big plays at any time for the Chiefs.

PREDICTION:  PATRIOTS 34, CHIEFS 13

Andre Carter is turning in a nice year for the New England Patriots

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 16 November 2011 at 2:17 pm

32-year old DE Andre Carter is having a solid season for the Patriots.  He has played in 9 games for the Patriots so far this year and he has 38 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 9 sacks and 1 forced fumble.  Carter has now played in 158 games in his first 11 years in the NFL and he has 480 tackles, 75 sacks, 44 tackles for a loss, 16 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and 22 passes defensed.  Carter has been a underrated player his whole career as he is pretty good at getting after the opposing QB.
