Nick Kaczur of the New England Patriots has back surgery

Blogged under Big Pats News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 24 August 2010 at 8:31 pm

31-year old G/T Nick Kaczur of the Patriots has underwent back surgery to repair a bulging disk putting his 2010 season in jeopardy.  He played in 14 games (13 starts) for the Patriots last season and they had him penciled in to start at LG in the place of Logan Mankins who is holding out.  This is a big blow to the Patriots who are seeing their O-Line starting  to crumble for 2010.

The New England Patriots place Torry Holt on I.R.

Blogged under Big Pats News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 16 August 2010 at 1:03 pm

The Patriots have placed WR Torry Holt on the Injured Reserve List with a knee injury ending his 2010 season before it even began.  He didn’t catch any passes in the pre-season opener for the Patriots.  The Patriots will likely depend on Julian Edelman as the #3 WR with his main competition out of action.

UPDATE:  (8/20/2010) – The Patriots have bought out Holt with a injury settlement making him a free agent.

The New England Patriots place Ty Warren on I.R.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 14 August 2010 at 9:14 am

The Patriots have placed 29-year old starting left DE Ty Warren on the Injured Reserve List with a labral tear in his hip.  He will have surgery on Monday.  Ty Warren played in 13 games for the Patriots last season and he had 46 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  Warren’s job was actually to tie up blockers against the running game and let the linebackers make the plays and he was very good at that.  32-year old Gerard Warren will get the first shot to replace him in the starting lineup.  I view this as a odd choice as G.Warren is 6’4″, 325 pounds.  G.Warren played in 16 games for the Raiders last season and he had 35 tackles, 2 sacks and he defensed 1 pass.  This will be a loss to monitor for the Patriots as Ty Warren was one of their keys to the defense.

The New England Patriots claim safety Josh Barrett off waivers

Blogged under Big Pats News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 7 August 2010 at 8:22 am

The Patriots have claimed 25-year old safety Josh Barrett off waivers from the Broncos.  Barrett played in 14 games for the Broncos last season and he made 10 tackles.  He has now played in 20 games in his two years in the NFL and he has 32 tackles, 4 passes defensed and 1 interception.  Barrett will need shoulder surgery which will cause him to miss the 2010 season so he will be placed on I.R.  This was a move made with the future in mind according to Bill Belichick.  But you know he likes to stick it to his old coaches and Denver’s Josh McDaniels is one of them.

The New England Patriots lose Wes Welker for the year

Blogged under Big Pats News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Monday 4 January 2010 at 9:14 pm

The Patriots have lost Pro Bowl WR Wes Welker for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee that he injured against the Texans yesterday.  Welker played in 14 games this season for the Patriots and he caught 123 passes for 1,348 yards (11.0 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  He also carried the ball 5 times for 36 yards (7.2 ypc) this year.  Rookie Julian Edelman will likely have to step up for the Patriots in Welker’s role of the tough guy over the middle.  Edelman has played in 11 games this season for the Patriots and he has caught 37 passes for 359 yards (9.7 avg) with a TD grab.  He has also carried the ball 2 times for 5 yards (2.5 ypc) this season.  This is a huge blow to the Patriots’ offense as Welker is Tom Brady’s security blanket in the passing game.

The New England Patriots lose safety Bret Lockett for the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Thursday 10 December 2009 at 10:35 am

The Patriots have lost 23-year old back-up safety Bret Lockett for the year.  Lockett played in 10 games for the Patriots this season and he made 7 tackles and forced 1 fumble.  The Patriots have activated DL Titus Adams off the practice squad to replace Lockett on the roster.  The 26-year old Adams has not played in a game yet in his career.

The New England Patriots lose Brandon Tate for the year

Blogged under Big Pats News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports,The Draft Report by admin on Sunday 15 November 2009 at 9:20 pm

The Patriots have lost rookie WR/KR Brandon Tate for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.  He only played in 2 games in his rookie season and he didn’t catch any passes.  He did carry the ball 1 time for 11 yards and he also returned 4 kickoffs for 106 yards (26.5 avg) this year.  Tate will be replaced by 28-year old WR Sam Aiken as the #3 WR for the Patriots the rest of the way.  He has played in 8 games for the Patriots this season and he has caught 9 passes for 139 yards (15.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.

Sammy Morris is still going to be out a little while longer for the New England Patriots

Blogged under Big Pats News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 6 November 2009 at 8:51 am

The New England Patriots will be without Sammy Morris for a couple of more weeks as he recovers from his torn MCL.  Morris has played in 6 games this season for the Patriots and he has carried the ball 30 times for 109 yards (3.6 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 12 passes for 137 yards (11.4 avg) so far this season.  The Patriots can’t wait to get Morris back as Coach Belichick loves having depth at running back.

The New England Patriots lose Jarvis Green

Blogged under Big Pats News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by admin on Wednesday 4 November 2009 at 2:26 pm

The Patriots have lost defensive end Jarvis Green until at least early December after he underwent surgery on his knee last week.  Green has played in 7 games (all starts) for the Patriots so far this season and he has 18 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  The Patriots will likely use Mike Wright at DE while Green is out and he should do a decent job for them.

The New England Patriots lose Julian Edelman

Blogged under Big Pats News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports,The Draft Report by admin on Wednesday 21 October 2009 at 8:13 am

The Patriots have lost WR/KR/PR Julian Edelman indefinately with a broken arm.  This is a big loss to the Patriots as Edelman has done everything they have asked…..and he has done it well.  Edelman has 1 carry for 5 yards this season and he has also caught 21 passes for 188 yards (9.0 avg).  Edelman has helped out on special teams big time this season.  He has returned 7 kickoffs for 157 yards (22.4 avg) and 6 punts for 63 yards (10.5 avg) this season.  Edelman was a excellent pick by the Patriots in the 7th round last April as he was a QB in college for the Kent State Golden Flashes.
